Return of student field trips brings sunshine and smiles.
The Lakers hosted Polson 3rd grade and Bigfork 5th grade at the Flathead Lake Biological Station for a day of hands-on watershed-learning.
Fundraising gap for Bad Rock Canyon Conservation project has been closed!
Pending a grant award, we have reached the fundraising goal to assist Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks with the purchase of the Bad Rock Canyon conservation area. We look forward to updating you in July with the final announcement.
Wrapping up the Montana Legislative Session
The 2021 legislative session has finally come to a close. This year was one of the toughest sessions that Montanans who value our natural environment have seen in a long time, and we can’t thank our members enough for joining us on this journey. We look forward to continuing the fight to keep our members informed, and hold our legislators accountable to protect water quality in the Flathead Watershed.
DIY Flathead Lake Mussel Walk Challenge
Inspect your favorite stretch of Flathead Lake shoreline this spring, look for invasive mussels, and help keep a watchful eye on Flathead Lake and Watershed.

Montana legislative update
We are following bills in the 2021 Legislative Session that potentially impact the Flathead Watershed. We ask our members to contact their representative, and OPPOSE SB 164, SB 358, and SB 211.
SOT: The scientific miracle of corona virus vaccines.
Earlier this month, we hosted Dr. Jay Evans, University of Montana, at our virtual Science on Tap event.
Dr. Evans's work, along with the Vaccine Discovery and Development Team at UM, is focused on the advancement of novel vaccines and delivery systems, and has been on the cutting edge of Covid vaccine development.
Given the importance of this issue, we wanted to share this event with you promptly.
Invasive mussels found in aquarium moss balls sold in Montana.
Aquarium moss balls with invasive mussels were sold in multiple states across the Northwest. Customers are asked to dispose of moss balls properly by freezing them overnight.

Matching Gifts Challenge for Bad Rock Canyon
Three generous donors have offered $100,000 as a 1:1 matching gift challenge. Help us meet this fundraising challenge by July 15 to protect 772 acres of critical habitat along the Flathead River.

We welcome Bryce Kadrmas onto our advocacy team. As our legislative intern, she tracks bills related to the Flathead Watershed passing through the Montana legislature.
Septic systems threaten more than clean water.
Ageing septic systems are a huge threat to future water quality in the Flathead Watershed. This water quality is vital to so much in Northwest Montana.
Now, a new study from researchers at the University of Montana's Flathead Lake Biological Station and the Whitefish Lake Institute has quantified the potential 'high price to pay if the water quality on these two iconic lakes isn't maintained'.
