Wall art mural for the Flathead watershed community
As a gift to the Flathead Lake community, the Flathead Lakers will be installing a wall art mural outside our offices in the Salish Building in Polson. The mural was designed to honor the natural beauty, tribal culture, history, and wildlife of Flathead Lake, one of most pristine and scenic lakes of its size in the world. The mural will cover two walls, which are 30 feet long each, and range from 4 to 9 feet in size.

The mural was designed in collaboration with the Salish Kootenai College art faculty member Cameron Decker and professional artist from Rochester, New York, known as “Thievin’ Stephen.” Stephen will be in Polson painting the week of August 31.
We are grateful to the donors of the project, including the Binger family who own the Salish Building, Flathead Lakers members, the Greater Polson Community Foundation, and the Flathead Lake Biological Station.
The community is invited to stop by the week of August 31 to see the mural in progress (see our facebook event), or later, once the mural is complete. Plans call for a plaque acknowledging donors, and describing the themes and cultural symbolism depicted in the future.
