Somers State Park Project
Over the past two decades, the Sliter family and Flathead River to Lake Initiative partners have been working together to create public access on their property on the north shore of Flathead Lake, east of Somers. The property has almost half a mile of shoreline, a beautiful sandy beach at low lake levels and shallow waters at high lake levels - a safe area for families to swim and recreate. The property will also conserve important wetlands along the north shore.
This spring, Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks received the Montana Legislature’s green light to purchase the Sliter’s property to create the Somers Beach State Park when it approved House Bill 5.
The Flathead Lakers have joined efforts with the MT State Parks Foundation and the Flathead Land Trust to help raise funds for much needed park amenities and long-term operations and maintenance of the new park.
Join us in supporting the Somers Beach State Park by making a donation below, or by sending a check to Flathead Lakers, P.O. Box 70, Polson, MT 59860 (add note on check: “Somers Beach”). We hope to raise $15,000 to help the MT State Parks Foundation close the gap on their challenge. Thank you!
