Clearing final hurdles for the Bad Rock Canyon
In the final steps toward protecting the Bad Rock Canyon Conservation Project, the Montana Land Board unanimously approved purchase of 772 acres of intact riparian forest and a mile along the Flathead River. It is one of the largest remaining undeveloped riverfront property in the area. MT Fish Wildlife and Parks expects to finalize the land purchase by the end of December. Hopefully we can celebrate and raise a glass to it by the Holidays!
Protecting this land is not only important for sustaining clean water, but also for providing vital habitat and travel corridors for bull trout and grizzly bears, winter range for elk and moose, and a stop for hundreds of thousands of migratory birds.
The Bad Rock Canyon Wildlife Management area will be closed to the public from December 1 to May 15 to protect big game winter range.
