Share Your Flathead Climate Stories
Now through February, submit your story for a special feature!
Families for a Livable Climate, Stories for Action and the Flathead Lakers are looking for Montana storytellers and artists to contribute to our growing collection of stories. Selected stories will be featured on our website, and may be included in a traveling exhibit of stories in 2023.
Selected storytellers will receive $100 for their submission. For this round of submissions we will prioritize Indigenous voices. Limit one submission per person.
Final submissions deadline: February 27, 2023.
PROMPT:
How are you, your loved ones, your community, your traditions, or your favorite Montana places, plants, or animals experiencing rising temperatures, persistent drought, wildfires, or floods?
Submit your story in an original essay, narrative, poem, photo essay, photography, or artwork. In your story, address one or more of the following questions:
How is climate change affecting you?
What solutions inspire you?
How do you want to be part of creating a more just and livable future?
GUIDELINES:
Your story can be submitted in one of the following formats:
Written narrative or essay: 300-500 words.
Recorded personal narrative in audio or video format: 3-5 minutes
Poetry, artwork, photography: Submit up to 5 pieces for consideration.
Montana Climate Stories (mtclimatestories.org) features personal stories from Montanans about how damages to the climate are impacting them. All Montana families need a livable climate and thriving environment to ensure a bright and secure future. We also need good jobs, healthcare, and equitable access to education and other opportunities such as healthy working landscapes. Tell your story!
