... I have passionately supported the Flathead Lakers' 'Becoming Watershed Citizens' program for the past two decades. You ask me why? The benefits for my students have been enormous and ongoing. They leave with a sense of place, and their place in it. They become a part of something with a rich and meaningful history, and purposeful in maintaining it for the future.
This is why… Flathead Lake Brewing Company
Our brewery believes that great beer calls for quality ingredients and quality ingredients require a healthy environment. Why is that? Well, beer is made from items found or grown in our environment: malts, hops, yeast, and the most important ingredient- water. So, teaming up with organizations like the Flathead Lakers, who also desire to protect our environment has always been an important part of our company's mission.

I've heard too many stories of how rivers, streams, lakes, forests, mountains, and valleys "used to be." You know the stories ... those telling us how pristine things were.
I want kids a hundred years from now to be able to climb a rock and launch into a clear, clean Flathead Lake. I want them to spy a beautiful fish with crimson gills and use their best deception to get it to bite.

This is why, to help our creek recover, I recently put a fence along the creek to keep cows out of the river bank riparian area. I am working with Flathead River to Lake Initiative partners to bring back the native plants along the south side of the creek.
This is why… Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp
Why does the Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp support the Flathead Lakers? Because kids from age 1 to 101 come to us to play and swim in the lake. Because people need opportunities to learn the joys of sailing. Because it’s hard to beat sitting on a dock early in the morning, watching the sunrise and conversing with dear friends.
