Jan Swanson
Jan Swanson is a native of Missoula and grew up in Montana. She spent her youth recreating in the Swan Valley and the last 50 years at the family’s cabin on Flathead Lake. She worked for 40 years as a Dental Hygienist in Missoula. The decades of close-up interaction with patients who were writers, farmers, businessmen and women, children and elderly enriched her view of Montana through their shared stories.
She and her husband Dave split time between Missoula and the lake and are joined there by family, including her two children and grandchildren. She always enjoys trips to Seattle to see the grandchildren as they grow. She and Dave enjoy each season at the lake, the change nature brings and the beauty it provides.
Jan is a master gardener and is surrounded by a bounty of flowers and vegetables throughout the year. She has hiked through the Swiss Alps, and through the Italian Dolomites twice. She has rafted the Grand Canyon and looks for opportunities to kayak on Flathead.
Jan is a connector. Her goal is to connect as many people and organizations to the Flathead Lakers as possible. She is aligned with the mission of the Board and holds the protection of the Flathead watershed as critical to the health, prosperity and opportunities of future generations. Jan is dedicated to the education of prevention and believes it will be the deciding difference of the lake’s health.
