We would like to invite you to our first Virtual Science on Tap-Flathead event on June 1st at 6:30 pm on Zoom. Our SOT co-host Shawn Devlin will present his Antarctica research. If it goes well, we’d like to host more events online, until we can finally meet back in the Cellar.
Thank you for your loyal support of our program, and being a part of our community. We miss you and our science discussions, so let’s go virtual together.
Dr. Shawn Devlin, Aquatic ecologist, FLBS, McM LTER
Melting glaciers and rising lakes:
Benthic ecology of the McMurdo Dry Valleys
Lakes in the Antarctic McMurdo Dry Valleys are expanding rapidly with increased glacially-fed meltwater stream flow. The newly inundated lake margins blossom with vibrant, rich, colorful life contrasting the seemingly barren and bleak arid soil landscapes of the Dry Valleys.
Let’s escape for a while to the only COVID-free continent, and learn about the ecology of moats around freshwater lakes in Antarctica… online together.
Monday, June 1st, at 6:30 pm on ZOOM
Register here at no cost. You will receive an email with instructions.
If you are unable to make it on Monday, we will post the presentation on the following day. Visit www.scienceontapflathead.org for more information.
