Middle Fork Flathead named a “Most Endangered River” by American Rivers

American Rivers announced on April 11 that the Middle Fork Flathead River is on its list of top ten most endangered rivers in the nation this year. Rail shipments of toxic and explosive Bakken oil threaten the Wild & Scenic Middle Fork Flathead River as well as downstream waters and associated groundwater. American Rivers and its local partners, including the Flathead Lakers, are calling for a site-specific safety management plan for the Middle Fork corridor.

American Rivers is a national river conservation organization that has been reporting annually on the nation’s most endangered rivers for 32 years.

Join our effort to protect Flathead waters from an oil train disaster by asking the Federal Railroad Administration to develop a safety agreement with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for the Middle Fork to help prevent derailments.  Take action!
