A message to members and friends who vote in Flathead County…
Vote FOR Egan Slough Zoning District Expansion on June 5 to help protect water, wetlands, riparian areas, fish and wildlife habitat, and farm land.
Back in 2002, the Flathead Lakers and our Critical Lands Project partners identified the Egan Slough area as having significant natural, cultural, agricultural and scenic values.
The Flathead Lakers supported the original agricultural zoning district and we support the current proposal to expand the district, both launched by Egan Slough area farmers and neighbors.
On June 5 (or earlier by mail-in ballot) Flathead County voters can Vote For expansion of the district.
Expanding the district will help protect water quality, healthy habitat, and the unique scenic rural character of the area, in addition to important agricultural lands.
The proposed addition includes land in the 100-year floodplain of the Flathead River and where groundwater is very shallow. Wetlands, floodplains, and riparian areas help protect water quality in the river, associated groundwater, and Flathead Lake. These natural resources and amenities benefit the public.
You can help protect these outstanding values that benefit us all by voting for the Egan Slough Zoning District Initiative. Thank you.
